DID YOU KNOW…
• Canaan Resort maintains 30km of marked snowshoe, cross country, and backcountry trails. Explore the flat side of the valley at Canaan Valley State Park, or take a one-way lift ticket to the top of Weiss Knob and head off the backside of the mountain for some steep (or mellow, if you prefer) backcountry solitude.
• Canaan is the only resort in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic to offer Airboarding, an “in your face” snowsports experience. The mountain even has an Airboard-specific terrain park.
BUDGET BONUS
• To celebrate the ski area’s 38th year in operation, discount lodge rates of $38 per night, as well as $38 lift ticket/ski rental combo tickets, will be offered the weekend of December 11-13, 2009. Canaan will celebrate the holidays with special three-day package options offered December 25, 2009 – January 3, 2010. Packages begin at $287 per person.
• Canaan will offer a variety of promotions this season to help budget-conscious skiers. On Food Bank Mondays, visitors can bring a non-perishable food item and receive a $10 lift ticket. Spend the whole day tubing for $25 on Tubing Tuesdays. Buy one lift ticket and get one free on BOGO Wednesdays. Canaan invites all military, firefighters/EMS, and police officers on Heroes Day Thursdays to receive a half price lift ticket/rentals. Fridays are College Days, when students and faculty with valid college identification receive a half price lift ticket/rentals. Don’t forget to take advantage of the next Snow Day when your school is closed due to inclement weather and receive an $18 lift ticket and ski rental.
• Canaan will partner with its neighbor, Timberline Resort, to offer a Ski the Valley Pass. This two-day lift ticket allows guests at either resort to ski both mountains when and how they want. Early and late season passes are $60, peak season rates are $98.
NEW THIS SEASON
• Canaan Valley Resort and FaceLevel Industries (www.facelevel.com) are teaming up to offer Airboard clinics this January. The clinics will introduce you to the newest snow sport to hit the slopes and help you jump on board this sports craze. The clinics will be held on January 8-10, 2010 and January 22-24, 2010 and a lodging package will be offered. The Annual Airboard Race will be held on February 6, 2010, and race admission will be waived for clinic participants. The resort will offer a Canaan Kids Airboarding Adventure, a half-day program for children ages nine and older that teaches the basics of airboarding, including steering, stopping and the rules of the mountain.
• This season, Canaan has enhanced its emphasis on skiing instruction for children and adults. A free beginner group ski lesson will be included with the Canaan Stay & Ski packages during the 2009-2010 ski season. Child and junior learn-to-ski programs are also available through the resort’s ski school with both private and group lesson options.
