Monarch Mountain
Monarch, CO :: 888-996-7669 :: skimonarch.com
If you’re looking for great powder, spectacular views, 1,000+ acres of expert terrain, steeps, trees, cliffs and bowls, you’ll find it all at Monarch Mountain. Check out the 130 acres of hike-to terrain in Mirkwood Basin, accessed from the Breezeway Lift. Plus Monarch Mountain Snowcat Tours offer some of the best Snowcat skiing in the state—closely spaced trees, variable snow conditions and extremely steep slopes.
Monarch is a family favorite because of great snow conditions and easy access to the mountain. Having one base area makes it convenient to drop off the little ones in the Children’s Center, pick up rental equipment, sign up for ski school and get on the slopes in a timely manner. Lift lines are a rarity, and you will often have ski runs all to yourself. As they like to say at Monarch, “you’ll lose the crowds, but not your friends. “
What’s New
• The latest high end skis from K2, Salomon and Völkl, and snowboards from K2 and Burton, have been added to the demo fleet. Monarch also brought in some beginner specific boots from Salomon that make walking around the base area easier.
• Tree islands have been removed on Mirage, Turbo, Snowburn and Short & Sweet. The trees will be used in the K2 Organic Terrain Park to build more natural features.
• The Tilt terrain park that was put in for kids and beginners looking for smaller terrain features was so popular that it has been more than doubled in size. Tilt will still have smaller less intimidating jumps, berms and rails, but now there will just be more of them.
Bragging Rights
• This season marks Monarch’s 70th anniversary of operations.
• Monarch Mountain offers some excellent backcountry terrain for adventurous skiers and riders. A short hike from the top of the Breezeway Lift will get you to Mirkwood Basin, 130 acres of open bowls, steep glades and tree skiing.
• Monarch Mountain just got greener—more than $6,000 was invested this season in upgrading the Main Lodge lighting systems resulting in 75 percent less electricity use. And look for the new hydration stations in the Main Lodge offering free cold filtered mountain spring water.
• Monarch season pass holders will be able to enjoy free skiing at Grand Targhee, WY and Sipapu, NM, in addition to our eight other partner mountains.
